The short answer

Custom GHL Themes, explained simply

A custom GoHighLevel theme is a set of CSS styling rules added through the agency settings that changes how the GHL interface looks. It can apply your brand colors, fonts, sidebar design, buttons, cards and a light or dark appearance across sub-accounts, so the white-labeled platform feels like the agency's own product.

Sound familiar?

These are the problems that usually bring people to us. If two or more apply, this service is worth a closer look.

Your white-label still looks like everyone else's

Changing the logo and domain is a start, but the default GoHighLevel colors and layout are recognizable to anyone who has seen another agency's account.

The interface does not match your brand

Your website, proposals and emails use your brand colors and fonts, then clients log into a platform that looks completely different.

Long workdays in a bright interface

Staff who spend hours in conversations and pipelines often want a darker, calmer look that is easier on the eyes.

Copied CSS snippets break things

Theme code found in forums or groups can clash with newer GHL versions, hide buttons or make text unreadable, and there is nobody to fix it.

What is included

Everything below is part of the work, written into your quote, and handed over with notes so you are never locked in.

Brand color system

Primary, secondary and accent colors applied to buttons, links, highlights, badges and status indicators throughout the interface.

Custom fonts

Your brand typeface loaded from Google Fonts or your own files, applied to headings and body text where GHL allows.

Sidebar styling

A redesigned left navigation with your colors, spacing, hover states and active-item highlight.

Cards, tables and panels

Consistent rounded corners, shadows and spacing on dashboard widgets, contact cards and tables.

Opportunity board styling

Cleaner pipeline columns and opportunity cards that are easier to scan, with clearer stage headers.

Light or dark appearance

A light theme, a dark theme, or both, with careful contrast checks so text stays readable.

Readability and contrast check

We test key screens against accessibility contrast guidelines so the theme looks good and is easy to read.

Clean, commented code

Organized CSS with comments and color variables, so future changes are quick and safe.

How the work runs

A clear path from first call to handover. You always know what is happening, what we need from you, and what comes next.

  1. 1 Day 1-2

    Brand and preference review

You share your brand guide or website, and tell us which screens your clients and team use most.

  2. 2 Day 2-4

    Design mockups

We create mockups of the dashboard, sidebar, conversations and pipeline screens in your styling for approval.

  3. 3 Day 4-7

    Build on a test account

We write the CSS and apply it to a test sub-account first, so your live clients are never affected while we work.

  4. 4 Day 7-9

    Cross-screen and browser testing

We check the main GHL screens in Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox, plus common laptop and tablet sizes.

  5. 5 Day 9-10

    Go live and handover

We apply the theme across the agency, share the commented code and explain how the maintenance plan keeps it working.

How do you change the look of GoHighLevel with custom CSS?

GoHighLevel lets agency admins add custom CSS in the agency settings, under the white-label or company area. CSS is the styling language that controls colors, fonts, spacing and layout on web pages. Code placed there loads whenever users open the agency or sub-account interface, so it can change how buttons, menus, cards and other elements look.

The work involves finding the right parts of the page to target and writing rules that change their appearance without breaking how anything works. We organize the code with variables for your brand colors, so changing a shade later means editing one line instead of dozens. We always test on a separate sub-account before applying the theme to live clients.

Will GoHighLevel updates break a custom theme?

They can, and you should know this before buying any custom styling. GoHighLevel releases updates frequently, and sometimes those updates rename the class names and page structure our CSS relies on. When that happens, part of the theme may stop applying, colors may revert to the default, or occasionally an element may look out of place.

We reduce the risk by writing selectors that are as stable as possible and avoiding fragile tricks. We cannot prevent changes on GoHighLevel's side, so we offer a low-cost maintenance plan that checks the theme after updates and fixes issues quickly. Without the plan, fixes are available on request. A broken theme affects appearance only, never your data, workflows or contacts.

What parts of the GoHighLevel interface can be customized?

Most visual elements of the main application can be restyled with CSS. That includes the sidebar, top bar, buttons, form fields, tables, dashboard widgets, contact records, conversation views and the opportunity pipeline board. Fonts, colors, spacing, borders, shadows and icons can usually be adjusted, and some elements can be hidden if your clients do not need them.

Some areas are harder or not possible to change reliably, such as content inside embedded frames, certain pop-up editors and the GoHighLevel mobile app, which does not use your custom CSS. We will tell you upfront what is realistic for your list of requests, so the result matches what you expected.

  • Usually customizable: sidebar, top bar, buttons, cards, tables, pipeline board
  • Sometimes limited: builders, pop-up editors, embedded frames
  • Not affected: the GoHighLevel mobile app

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions people ask us most. If yours is not here, ask us directly.

Where is custom CSS added in GoHighLevel?

Custom CSS for the agency and sub-account interface is added in the agency settings, in the area for company or white-label customization. Only agency admins can access it. Anything placed there loads for users inside the application. We handle this for you, and we keep a copy of the code so it can be restored or updated at any time.

Does a custom theme affect my clients' funnels or websites?

No. The theme changes how the GoHighLevel application looks for logged-in users. Your clients' public funnels, websites, forms and booking calendars are styled separately inside the builders and are not affected. If you also want those updated to match your brand, that is a separate piece of work we can quote for.

Can each sub-account have a different theme?

Custom CSS added at agency level applies across your sub-accounts, so most agencies use one consistent theme. Small variations based on the account are sometimes possible with additional code, but they add complexity and maintenance. For most agencies, one well-designed brand theme is the most reliable choice.

Will a dark theme work on every screen?

We style the screens your team and clients use most, including the dashboard, conversations, contacts, calendars, opportunities and settings. Some less common screens or third-party embedded tools may keep light backgrounds because they load separately. We test thoroughly and list any known exceptions before handover, so you are not surprised later.

Does a custom theme slow down GoHighLevel?

A well-written CSS theme adds a very small amount of code and has no noticeable effect on speed. Problems usually come from very large copied stylesheets or heavy imported files. We keep the code lean, load fonts efficiently and avoid unnecessary images so the interface stays as quick as it was before.

Can I edit the theme colors myself later?

Yes. We build the theme with color variables at the top of the file, clearly labeled. Changing a brand color means editing one value and saving. We include short instructions in the handover. For larger changes, such as redesigning cards or the sidebar, we recommend asking us so nothing else is affected.

Is custom CSS allowed by GoHighLevel?

Yes. GoHighLevel provides the custom CSS field in agency settings for exactly this purpose, and many agencies use it for white-labelling. Because it is officially available but not officially supported for every element, GoHighLevel support may ask you to disable custom code when troubleshooting, which is easy to do and easy to restore.

What do I need to provide for a custom theme?

We need your logo files, brand colors, preferred fonts and, if available, your brand guide or website for reference. We also need temporary agency admin access or a user with permission to edit settings, plus a test sub-account. A short list of what you like and dislike about the current interface helps us prioritize.
